“Building a Culture of Service” is a university goal initiative designed to give staff members the tools and training necessary to provide a level of service that is in line with
Vision 2010. Vision 2010 includes the following goals for our people and work environment:

The food services

The food service industry encompasses those places, institutions, and companies responsible for any meal prepared outside the home. This industry includes restaurants, school and hospital cafeterias, catering operations, and many other formats.
The companies that supply foodservice operators are called foodservice distributors. Foodservice distributors sell goods like small wares (kitchen utensils) and bulk foods.
Some companies manufacture products in both consumer and foodservice versions. The consumer version usually comes in individual-sized packages with elaborate label design for retail sale. The foodservice version is packaged in a much larger industrial size and often lacks the colorful label designs of the consumer version.
Foodservice sales to restaurants and institutions are estimated to be approximately $400 Billion, about equal with consumer sales of foods through grocery outlets. The foodservice industry is one of the largest employers in the United States. Major foodservice providers include Compass Group, Unidine, 3663 First for Foodservice, Aramark, JJ Food Service Limited and the Crown Group.

The banquet departament in a hotel

All the services in a hotel are really important, I'm going to talk about the banquet department.
In this department we need to have a very good attitude of service because we have many clients that need many different services in the same time for example if we have an event, is very necesary to know what the client need and how we are going to do, in the begining is very importat to have comunication with the sales department because we can know all the client's needs there. Therefore we need to comunicate all the personal involve and start to work.
The comunication is very importat, we need to ask to the manager if we don't understand how to do something.
The time is very importat also because we have to be ready almost 30 minutes before the event start.
